Easter weekend fun

On Easter weekend we went to Waco. I can't remember the name of the little girl with Camille in the photo, but she's a distant relative. She and Camille were very cute together.

Lily's favorite thing to do was to play with the thermometer on the side of Aunt E's pool. It was surprising how long Lily kept focus with this game--around 20 minutes if I recall correctly. Her sleeve got all wet and her arm very cold, but she didn't seem to mind.

Gymnastics

Camille loves gymnastics every week. These are some pictures that we found from her first day back in January. She's getting better every week, though her attention during class is fleeting. She loves to show off her Princess leotard to everyone.

Couch fun

Matt worked in Houston this week and Camille went with him to stay with Nana and Papa. It's been quiet around the house with just Lily and me. Tonight when we arrived home Lily immediately found the little couch that Grandma brought by from her neighbor. Lily plopped down on it with a bag of cheerios and wouldn't get off for anything. She finally did agree to eat supper. Afterwards, Lily got back on the couch and hollered for me to get all these animals on the couch with her. I don't know how Lily's going to feel about making room for Camille. The couch will unfold into a bed. When I tried this, Lily screamed like I just threw her favorite blankie to the wolves. Once I put it back to the couch, Lily calmed down and re-seated.

I love Lily's little wrinkled-up-nose face that she makes as she says "cheese" for the camera. This second picture reminds me of that scene when ET was hiding with all the stuffed animals.

Camille loves Uncle Mike!

Uncle Mike got to join us in Carthage this trip, and we all enjoyed seeing him. Camille was Mike's tag-along outside. His cute little puppy, unfortunately not captured on film, was an added attraction. Lily played coy and ran to him and away from him repeatedly. It was a day full of fun.

Trip to carthage

We went to Carthage for Granddaddy's birthday two weeks ago. Lily loves playing with stuffed animals. She insisted on carrying the big dog around the house.

Lily and Camille both had a blast with the other girls pushing baby dolls around in strollers. Lily even wore the crown. Unfortunately Lily had a hard time keeping the stroller on the sidewalk.

Lily loves to...

Lily loves to play outside, especially going down the slides.

Lily loves butter!

Lily loves to shuffle around in Mom's shoes.

More museum pictures

Camille is still young to grasp the idea of dinosaur bones. She'll ask lots of concrete questions, but she was minimally impressed with the dinosaur skeleton. I just noticed that Mr. Dino is grasping a big prehistoric bird. She did like digging through sand with paintbrushes like an archeologist.

Both girls enjoyed the water table but we had to quickly move along before all of us became soaked. Lily loved the rocking horse and Camille rode around on a tractor tricycle.

Children's museum

Camille and Lily had a ball at the children's museum. Lily especially loved "planting seeds" (repeatedly getting golf ball "seeds"and putting them in holes in the floor). They both filled their baskets with harvested produce and sorted them at market. It's an impressive set-up there.

Children's Museum

Camille and Lily loved going to the children's Museum last weekend. They looked so cute!

Surprisingly to me, Lily loved applying every valentine sticker to the card immediately. Thank you, Nana. I had no idea that she would be interested in stickers.

My girls growing up!

Camille is a proud pre-kindergardener, sporting her Primrose School uniform.

Camille and Lily are becoming good friends. They love to hug. They both help each other out. Lily loves to help me, saying "thayn-too" (thank you) as she unloads the silverware from the dishwasher and hands them to me individually. Lily's timing leaves something to be desired and sometimes means koshing Camille with Priscilla's hard plastic head or dropping/throwing Camille's shoes on top of her. Camille is a good sport about it, though with no shortness of howling over any bit of discomfort.

Pretty in purple

Purple is a popular color with Camille these days, and Lily wants to be like Camille.

Goofy girls

Camille loves to listen to books on tape from the library. She's now able to use them nearly independently.
The other day I dressed the girls in matching shirts with a frog prince who says "pucker up." When I tried to take their picture together, it proved more difficult than you would think. In these out-takes you can see that they're both very silly and constantly moving!

Sharing

Camille has been so sweet recently, sharing snacks with Lily. In the back seat of the car Camille passes grapes to Lily, who hollers for "ma ma," which means "more." In this first picture you can see they both thought it would be fun for Lily to eat right out of Camille's hand.

New Member of the Family

Don't get too excited, our new family member has fins and gills. Camille named "her" Percy (though the pink Betta fish is actually a male). Percy is adjusting well to adoption as a Smith and has really perked up since Grandpa gave some live plants to accessorize his tank.

Here's Camille playing dress-up.
Lily made this pilot hat at school. At first she didn't want to put it on, and later she didn't want to take it off.
