Pumpkin patch

These are pictures from when we went to the local pumpkin patch 2 weeks ago. I'm just finally posting them. Camille had a blast playing hide-and-seek with Mommy in the maze. Perhaps Camille's favorite thing to do was to balance while walking along hay bales set in rows.

Lily was not happy about sitting with the pumpkins, having her feet in the grass, or touching the hay. As long as we held her, she was fine. The photo of Lily sitting with the pumpkin is right before she started crying about her feet touching the grass. Lily has shoes, but she can take them off faster than I can put them on.

It was a beautiful day, and Camille looked forward to it all week.

Lily's walking!

Lily is walking some now. She loves to carry things with her when she walks. Here she was walking around with a clean sock in her mouth (I was folding laundry). Lily is also wearing shoes now when I take her to school, but I don't know how long she leaves them on because they're always in her bag when I pick her up in the evening.

These shoes were Camille's 3rd pair! (because Camille was just a smaller baby).

Camille and Lily really are becoming friends!

I bought Camille her first nightgown, and she absolutely loves it! Her cousin Katelynn has one and Camille's thrilled to be like her. The sleeves are too long, and I'm meaning to sew them up when I get time. Camille's frustrated with me for the delay and announced that Nana would probably have to do it.
Lily is eating more table food these days. Nana's chili mac recipe always makes a fun mess.

Lily is very much into touch sensation. She loves to crawl under these deep shelves in the living room to snuggle with some large stuffed animals.

Naked Cheerios

Lily recently had an out-of-control diaper rash, which required 2 trips to the doctor. In trying to help her bottom heal, I gave her lots of time playing naked in the kitchen to air-dry. In Lily's opinion, there is nothing better than eating Cheerios when you're naked!

Lily can now hold her own bottle! Camille never could (or would). She now likes to take her morning bottle sitting in the high chair.
Another funny story:
Camille has been very serious lately about concern for the possibility of a fire in the house or tornadoes. At school they have been talking about safety. Camille has slept in my bed twice now (with Matt out of town) because of bad dreams. We were sitting at the table and she was telling me spontaneously that if there is an emergency you need to call 911. I asked her what situations you would need to call 911. She told me about severe illness and fire. I reminded her of needing the police and she agreed. She added, "If there's a bad man if your house you need to tell your mom and she will tell him to get out. (long pause) If there's a bad girl in your house, you need to tell your mom and she will tell her to get out and go to her room in her own house." I guess Camille can relate to that punishment:)

That can't be comfortable!

This was how I found Camille sleeping the other night before I went to bed.

"Lily's slobbering on Nana again"

Lily likes to take the magnets off the fridge. Perhaps her favorite one to chew on is Nana.

Camille gets upset about Lily "slobbering" on the magnets.

Birthday party pictures

Here are pictures from Camille's birthday party at the park with some of our church friends.

They enjoyed pitching pennies into a basket. It was funny to see 4-year-old logic. I kept trying to have them back up to make it more challenging, but they didn't see the point in making it more difficult. I finally got them to back up and one girl quickly moved the basket closer to them so they could reach it better:)

Camille picked out the big pink pinata at Walmart, and I filled it with toys and candy. Even the dads had fun beating up the pinata afterwards. There was no where to throw away the big pinata in the park. The decapitated pink unicorn corpse haunted me every time I opened the trunk of my car for a week until I finally fount time to throw it way. I didn't want to upset Camille by throwing it away in her presence. (This is the girl who cried for a half hour the other day after a tiny hair rubberband--of which we have many other identical--was irretrievably lost down the sink. She's not into throwing things away.)

Camille again requested green icing this year. When we were choosing plates we saw these adorable butterflies, and my mom thought of the idea of clipping butterfly hairclips to candles on the cupcakes for decorations. As it turned out, Camille chose Cinderella plates, but I kept the butterfly cupcake decorations because I thought it was cute. They looked even better than captured in the photos. The creamcheese icing was a little melted by dessert, but the kids obviously loved it. It was eaten first.

Camille's 4th Birthday

Sorry these pictures seem to be in no particular order. I don't exactly have a blogging talent.

At Camille's birthday party at home, Camille thought it would be fun to stick her finger in the flame. I don't know what inspired her, but we all yelled at the same time. I guess Camille was surprised but not hurt.

Here is Camille and Daddy setting up the wooden train from Nana and Papa.

Camille got a cute card from Aunt Kristine that folded into a fancy crown.
Lily looking cool in Grandpa's shades.

Camille celebrated her 4th birthday on Sept 19th. I'm just finally getting around to posting pictures. The anticipation was great, as she looked forward to her birthday for weeks. She was so excited to open 1 little present on the morning of her birthday. She wore the "I'm 4 years old today" pin proudly all day.

Camille brought chocolate chip cookies for little snack party at school, and Grandma made cupcakes for our family celebration at home. Camille is very proud of her new bigwheel

from Grandma and Grandpa, even if she still is a little short.
